InterMat, Multi Loop Paternosters
Watch the video Steel carriers are connected to transport chains that rotate the entire complement of carriers around inside a framework in either direction working on the shortest routing path principle.
The required carrier is presented at the access port in front of the operator at an ergonomic working height.
Goods presentation can be brought forward of the framework to a loading nose arrangement – as illustrated above - allowing free access for manual picking or by Fork Lift Truck, Overhead Crane etc.
Products can be delivered to the front, rear or both, mezzanine floor and basement levels or in any combination of these.
The above illustration demonstrates the complete versatility of the InterMat multiloop paternoster system, product types can be mixed together in one unit, bar, tooling, finished goods, cable reels, etc. etc.
The machine is equipped with a loading nose for ease of movement in and out without obstructions; the access zone is protected by a photoelectric curtain from ground to 1500mm high.
Manufactured to store and handle heavy weight products whether they are long, round, square or awkward shapes, InterMat can store it, the number of loops is determined by the storage volume and weight loadings required.
The outer sides of the unit is protected with steel or composite sheet cladding as required for safety to prevent access to any moving part, a light curtain is installed at the front of the access port for operator safety.
1. Bar, Tube & Long Load Storage
Loading nose presenting the product clear of the machine for loading and unloading free of obstruction, allows access for fork lift trucks and cranes or manually as appropriate.
The machines can store product up to 12,000mm long and to 1,400mm depth per level, the units can be over 50,000mm in overall depth. Heights to 22,000mm have been achieved
Loads up to 4,200Kg per level are achievable up to 200 tonnes.
The single loop machine shown here stores stillages of steel shafts on a production line.
The configuration of the paternoster is so variable that it can be manufactured to fit into virtually any shape and area available for use including multiple access ports, these are just a few of the possibilities :-

These reels are resting on a pair of beams.
Electrical cable reel storage 8 reels per level, 3300mm long carriers, 650Kg per level
The units may be manufactured in vertical, horizontal or serpentine formats to suit the application.
4. Carpet, Vinyl & Cloth Rolls
Machine storing rolls of carpet on mandrels, issued to a cutting machine which measures the required amount, cuts and rolls up for securing to take away.
The units have a front display sample board fitted.
Rolls of Vinyl are also stored, displayed and cut by the same method.
Rolls can be stored at a variable diameter and length.
5. Steel Coils
The paternoster machine can be designed to store steel coils on a mandrel support allowing the coil to be rolled directly from the unit to a process station.
This system allows individual coils to be inserted into the machine safely, and handling can be by an overhead crane or forklift truck.
The coil is fed from the front of the machine into the work station.
The support mandrels are removed, inserted into a replacement coil and loaded.
This unit stores coils of 3000Kg each with a diameter of 1000mm, larger and heavier coils can be stored.
The maximum height of the system is 14 metres and may have additional loops for more stock holding.
6. Bridge Units
Free up valuable floor space and utilise the height of the area, entry / exit ports can be positioned at any point to suit the positioning of production machines or support columns.
The machine profile can be manufactured to suit the space available
"T" bridge unit with one entry / exit port, all storage held above the floor level to leave space for manufacturing etc.
Whatever the product profile and type there is a solution to make the best use of space, store the most difficult loads and eliminate handling and safety issues.
7. Other Applications
The heavy duty single and multi loop paternosters have many different uses; they can be manufactured to any size in length, width, depth and height. Carrier styles are user definable to store any product within the parameters stated, these are some of the other uses in operation.

Manufactured by Intertex Maschinenbau in Germany who have been producing these units since the 1960s.
